Profile: Rebecca Kacaba

Tell us about yourself.

I'm the CEO and Co-founder of DealMaker.tech, and mom to Sophie & Daphne (6 & 5 years old).

What do you consider as your biggest achievement?

Starting DealMaker.

What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?

Do what you love, it makes it easy to work hard, which is what will make you successful.

How do you stay productive and be your best self at work?

Always try to understand the bigger picture of what you're doing, and where what you're doing fits in. It will help you make better decisions and advance. Don't be afraid to ask questions or say when you don't understand. Others will help you, and you will learn faster.

What's your top mental health tip for when the going gets tough?

Stress is mostly caused by not knowing how to handle something, or being in a state of indecision. Once you have the ability to figure out what is causing the stress, and make a decision on how to handle it, you have control over your environment, and you won't find yourself as stressed. Don't let your environment control you, you control your environment.

What are your top health hacks?

Work physical activity into your daily life. I'm not as good now because of COVID as I used to be. Food hacks - I eat what I want, just not too much of it. Intermittent fasting is amazing, keeps my energy up. My brain works at night so if I wake up thinking about something, write it down, and go back to sleep. If I can't sleep I get up. I don't stress about it.

How do you ensure your personal and/or family's financial wellness?

Rich Dad/Poor Dad. Don't focus on what you have, focus on making more.

What's your favorite fun activity?

Skiing, swimming, anything with my family!

Who are your female role models and why?

I've been so lucky to have a lot of amazing high profile women mentor me, Lara Zink, Laurie Clarke, Deborah Bielecki. I think seeing women like Whitney Wolfe taking her company public at 31 with her one year old son and am so inspired. Sheryl Sandberg's book really helped me when that came out. The kindness and selflessness of my mom and my mother-in-law is something I really admire and try to emulate. I've been really lucky to have amazing male mentors and role models as well with phenomenal characteristics I try to pick up. If you look around there are amazing traits in everyone.
